Jane Butterfield (BSc, ACMA)

Jane started with TIAA in 2015 as a Business Assurance Manager, was quickly promoted to Director of Audit, Director – Risk and Assurance and then to her current role as Operations Director, due to her innovation and expertise honed over a career spanning three decades. Jane is a member of the Corporate Leadership Team, with responsibility for the management of all audit resources, the design of audit standards for the organisation, the maintenance of quality accreditations and the design and management of quality feedback processes.

Previously as one of Directors of Audit and, latterly, one of our Directors – Risk and Assurance, Jane was responsible for leading and supporting a team of highly skilled specialists. Jane consistently delivered to her region of clients across different public sector organisations, especially in Local Government, Housing and Education sectors. Her portfolio allowed Jane to work with clients to improve systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement and value for money.

Career Highlights

• Working for a large housing provider for 17 years, initially as a Principal Auditor and later as Business Assurance Manager.
• Carrying out presentations on the Role of Internal Audit to Executive and Senior Management Teams to ensure all were aware of how internal audit can add value to an organisation.
• Continuously developing good working relationships with clients with massive success resulting in several clients openly requesting advice on issues that have arisen.
• Recently implementing a risk and performance management system at a Local Government client ensuring that expected controls were being introduced at the correct stage and were operating in practice once projects were completed. This allowed efficiency gains and reshaped the risk management arrangements at the client.
