A TIAA Anti-Crime Specialist has been alerted by an NHS Trust that fake job offers have been emailed to overseas candidates.

The offers are in the form of a letter attached to an email and have the NHS logo and the Trust address at the top of the letter, with a heading: Notification of your employment/job engagement

The offer letters outline the job title, salary, start date, and offer flight tickets for the employee and family to relocate.

Other benefits offered in the letter are travel and relocation expenses, fully furnished accommodation, medical cover and educational assistance.

At the end of the letter is a contract acceptance form which is to be returned by email.

The job offers are signed by a HR Manager who does exist, but they work at a neighbouring university and not the NHS Trust.

The emails attaching the job offers are signed by a person who is purportedly a Recruitment Coordinator for the Trust. Enquiries have established that this person does exist but actually works for NHS Professionals. The email address used to send the emails ends in: nhs-uk.com

It is assumed that the aim of the fraudster is that the candidate would engage with them regarding the ‘too good to be true’ job offer, and then some kind of payment would be requested by the fraudster.

Action Required

This fraud alert should be circulated to all recruitment staff for awareness of the scam.
