Overview
Recent increases in community tensions have raised concerns about the safety and wellbeing of NHS staff and clients. While there is no specific threat to NHS sites at this time, heightened tensions in local areas can lead to confrontations or create an environment of unease.
Recommended Actions
- Stay Alert: Be aware of your surroundings when travelling to and from work, particularly near areas where demonstrations or gatherings are taking place.
- Avoid Engagement: Do not engage in debates or confrontations related to political, cultural, or religious issues.
- Travel Planning: Where possible, avoid routes or areas known for gatherings or heightened tensions. Consider travelling in pairs or groups.
- Secure Premises: Ensure that access controls, ID checks, and visitor protocols are strictly followed at all NHS sites.
- Report Concerns: Immediately report any suspicious activity, harassment, or security incidents to your line manager and the nominated security specialist.
- Seek Support: If you feel unsafe or distressed, reach out to your manager or the designated security contact for assistance. Support services are available.
Practical Security Tips

- Do not share work-related details on social media.
- Park in well-lit areas and lock vehicles securely.
