A new community-accessible defibrillator has been installed at Fort Fareham following a joint initiative between Tiaa and local contractor inovolt.
Installed on the exterior of Tiaa’s offices at Artillery House, the defibrillator is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has been registered with The Circuit, the national defibrillator network used by NHS ambulance services. In the event of a cardiac emergency, call handlers can direct members of the public to the device and provide the cabinet access code where required.
The initiative was developed after identifying that the nearest publicly accessible defibrillator was located some distance away. By providing a device within Fort Fareham, the project helps improve access to critical emergency equipment for those working in, visiting, or passing through the area.
Inovolt generously provided the installation of the cabinet, associated power supply and external signage, helping to bring the project to fruition through its support and expertise.
Tiaa will continue to oversee the ongoing management and maintenance of the defibrillator, including routine inspections and the replacement of consumable items as required, ensuring the device remains ready for use at all times.
To support awareness and confidence in using the equipment, Tiaa is also exploring opportunities to host informal familiarisation sessions for businesses based on the estate, providing an opportunity to see the defibrillator, understand how it works and learn what to expect in an emergency.
The project represents a shared commitment to improving community safety and increasing access to potentially lifesaving equipment for those living, working in, or visiting the local area.
